Dollhouse Therapy officially kicks off today! I am so excited for this challenge and all of the people who have already jumped on board to join Primitive & Proper, Nalle's House, Semigloss Design and myself. The four of us are sharing our first room plans today and will be revealing the afters the last Tuesday of April. Today, I am showing you the room I plan on working on: the kitchen!
the living room done, and while I did make a lot of progress, I am sad to admit the room is still not finished. Thus no room reveal as I had hoped in March. Soon though, I promise.
Even though that room isn't done, I am eager to work on the kitchen and have some fun plans for it along with some new additions via Miniatures.com.
Here is the "before" shot of the kitchen primed with paint (other than the ceiling):
Here is how Hazel has it set up right now...
kitchen set from Miniatures. I loved this little set instantly. I might try to make a diy range hood above the stove to finish that side off.
The cool part about a dollhouse is that you can be as trendy as you want without worrying about spending a fortune and then hating it in a couple of years. I am currently loving kitchens and baths with funky and unique tile, and since I don't have that in my own home, I figured this was the place to live out my dream. I found a piece of paper in this scrapbook paper pad (affiliate link*) that I absolutely fell in love with. With some minor trimming it will fit perfect in the space.
two pendant lights from Miniatures.com to go in the room. They are battery operated and hang up with a magnet (how cool is that?), so it will be easy to turn them on and off. I was feeling too lazy to do the whole wiring system in this house, so battery operated lights were the simple solution.
our own kitchen.
three piece white nursery set and we have been putting the high chair in the kitchen so that will likely stay.
I have a lot of miniatures for the kitchen saved from when I was little (and a couple passed down from my grandparents), so those will be going in too! I've had the toaster, pots and pans, food, bread box, rolling pin and gold mugs since I was about 8 or 9. It's fun to watch my own kids play with them now. We did get a couple of new things also like the braided French bread and a pie board (shown in the first photo above).
Head over to visit my partners in this challenge to see which rooms they will be working on this month!
And if you want to join us, get to work on a room of your own and come back at the end of the month to link up and show us your progress! If you don't have a blog, please join us on Instagram by adding the hashtag #DollhouseTherapy to your posts! We can't wait to see. And don't forget one lucky participant will receive a $100 gift certificate to Miniatures.com in June!
