Rustic Bohemian Patio Makeover

Earlier this week, I shared the before and after of my porch and patio that I was able to get all spiffed up for fall. {Click here if you missed it and want to see the "Before" first} Today, I am sharing more details of the patio itself, that I decked out in rustic bohemian flair. I was kinda hating on this space before, but now I love it!

DIY Outdoor Storage Organization {Without a Garage or Shed}

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Rubbermaid, but all my opinions are my own. #PMedia #FallFixUp http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

One of the most difficult quirks about some older homes, is that they lack in adequate storage. Our home, is no exception, and one area where we especially struggle is outdoors. We have no garage or storage shed. We have a large covered patio at the back of the house and a smaller porch area off of the mudroom. And that's pretty much it.

Is there any hope for those of us in this situation to get our outdoor space organized?
Since we are constantly working on our home, the small porch area has sadly become a space for anything and everything. I have long wanted to create a designated trash and bottle & can storage spot, and finally decided enough was enough. With fall on the way, now was the time to do it! Cold weather will be here before we know it, so I had to take advantage of a warm summer weekend. Don't you love when you finally get the motivation to do something you have put off for years?

First, I suppose, I have to show you the porch before. But I must warn you: It. Is. Scary.

Are you ready for the truth behind this blogger's house?

Be You {because you are better at it than anyone else} & a Free Printable!

There is nothing so important in this life than remembering that being you is better than anything else you can be. And nobody else can do it. You are the one and only. It is easy to get caught up in comparison or following the crowds, but our true beauty and loveliness comes from our authenticity.
So today I say, be you. Enjoy yourself. Love yourself. With all of your quirks and imperfections, talents and faults, the good and the bad.

Vintage Inspired Patriotic Book Page Wreath

With Labor Day, just over a week away, I thought it would be a great time to give you a diy tutorial that I originally shared at Yellow Bliss Road. I made a vintage inspired patriotic wreath from old book pages, just before Memorial Day, and used it for display on the 4th of July as well. It will be taking center stage on our front door, once again, as Labor Day rolls around.

This project was also featured on Country Living's website over the summer which was quite a thrill!

Like most of my projects, this one was not perfect, and I ended up improvising a bit, but that is part of the fun of being creative, isn't it? Learn new things and keep trying.

Thoughts of Fall on My Mind

I don't know about you, but fall has been on my mind for awhile. It always happens once August hits: I begin dreaming of those beautiful autumn days that are on their way.
We are approaching my favorite time of year, and I can't help but get excited. I can hold off, of course, on the winter's cold for quite awhile, but oh, how I wish I could make fall stay longer.

When Hope Can’t be Found {personal thoughts on depression and suicide}

Have you ever lost hope? Ever looked in the mirror, with tears streaming down, wishing it could all be over? Ever felt the weight of the world closing in on you? That there might not be a reason to go on?
Well, I have.

Rustic Modern Boho Fall Decor Inspiration

With fall quickly approaching, I start getting the itch to redecorate, but I am not ready to go full on pumpkins and halloween yet. Today, I am sharing my version of "rustic modern bohemian fall", which is a style that can go all year but blends perfectly with sophisticated autumn decor.

A Visit to a Country Farm

Last week, the kids and I had the opportunity to visit a friend of mine down on her farm just over a half an hour away. Hazel and Owen were so excited to go and see "all the animals," and I was excited for some adult chat with my friend Julie while our children played.
Julie and I went to high school and college together and had plenty to talk about since both of us are stay at home moms with two kids, and she recently joined the blogging world. I was also looking forward to photographing some of the beautiful surroundings and farm animals, but alas, children can foil some of those plans. Owen was pretty shy and insisted I hold him all throughout our tour of the barn.

10 Best Decorative Free Fonts for Fall

I want to savor the last weeks of summer, but we all know that autumn will be here before we know it. So, since I am a typography junkie, I put together a list of ten of the best free fonts for fall. I wanted to get this out there, with enough time, for you to use for your fall projects and blog posts! These are more decorative in nature and look great paired with simple, cursive or handwritten fonts.

Since fall is the season of pumpkins, going back to school, falling leaves, football and celebrating the beauty of nature, I included a little bit of everything. I hope you enjoy this collection and create some beautiful things with them!

Boho Woodland Animal Collage Art {Crafting with Your Kids No. 1}

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® Elmer’s and Wet Ones, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #CraftandCleanUp http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Today, I am starting a new series called Crafting with Your Kids, which is of course, one of my favorite things to do as a mom! This series will consist of projects that parents and children can collaborate on together to make unique works of art or decor for your home.

Up first, are these "boho style" woodland animal collages that my three year old daughter, Hazel, and I made for the playroom.
Since being a mom is busy, I don't have a lot of time to make my own art the way that I used to, but I have a deep need to be creative. Working together is a great alternative.

5 Minute No Sew Drop Cloth Curtains

Canvas drop cloth curtains have been increasing in popularity for a few years now and there is good reason, they are durable, washable, inexpensive and so easy to transform into beautiful drapes that look like linen without the cost. Here is how I made mine in about five minutes and without sewing…
I love the texture (and price) of the Blue Hawk drop cloths available at Lowe's, which is what I used in the photographs shown here. I have bought several from there and now have curtains made from them in both my living room and playroom.
