Gray & Pink Living Room

I have partnered with Unique Rug Store for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own. Full disclosure.

It's been so long since I have shared a decorating post with all of you! Life is crazy busy right now with three kids under five and getting our house on the market! Looking for a new place to call home is exhausting but hopefully we will find something really soon.

This post is long overdue as I received this beautiful new rug from Unique Rug Store way back in October. I completely fell in love with the muted colors and beautiful pattern. I knew I wanted it for my future living room. Granted, I was thinking ahead to my next living room, in our next home, but I couldn't help but put it in this space for the time being. It is VERY large, so it takes up almost the whole space, but I love how it brings warmth and interest to the room, without being overwhelming.

Styling a Bed with Kilim Pillows

I have partnered with Kilim Pillow Store for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own. Full disclosure.

I can never stop tweaking my decor. I love to change things up. And I have a *slight* obsession with throw pillows. Seriously…I have a closet full of pillow covers and inserts. It might be a little out of control…
Today, I am showing how easily I change out the vibe of our minimalist white bedroom with some textural throw pillows…whenever the mood strikes.

Simple Fall Mantel: Minimalist & Natural

This year, I decided to go fairly simple with my fall mantel decor. The walls and salvaged mantel are both white, so I wanted to bring in a bit of deep seasonal colors and natural elements to welcome autumn into our dining room.
I shared a glimpse of it in my recent Fall Home Tour. Today, I am sharing more details of how I brought it all together.

18 Eclectic Living Rooms: Collected Spaces that Inspire

Decorating an eclectic living room can be tough when you want it to be well styled, yet have that "effortless collected" vibe that we can find all day long on Pinterest. I have struggled in my own living room (like I talked about on Wednesday), and often turn to fellow bloggers and interior stylists to gain inspiration.

Here are 18 eclectic living rooms that showcase personality, comfort and style, each in their own unique way. Click on the links to see more from each space.

From Living Room to Family Room

My living room has gone through so many rearrangements and decor changes in the short five years that we have lived here. Guaranteed, if you come over one week, things will be different if you come back a few weeks later. I am a perpetual rearranger. I love to switch things up. It keeps life exciting (well, at least for me).
I recently decided to do another room switch and decided to move all of the "family room" furniture out of the smaller space it was in and back into our main living room. I did all of the following rearranging in one day and by myself (cause I'm crazzzy? Maybe a little!). My husband was a bit surprised when he got home that day. But let's be real…not that much…he has been married to me going on ten years now and this is nothing new.

Favorite Second Hand Finds

Those of you who know me and have followed me for awhile, know that I love getting the majority of my accessories and home decor second hand. I am an avid thrift store shopper and hit up flea markets and yard sales the minute the weather gets nice.
Church sales are actually my favorite places to shop because they often have the lowest prices, great hidden treasures…and sweet church volunteers who are happy to see you find good stuff! I occasionally shop on Craigslist as well and have scored some of my most loved pieces that way.

Here are some of my favorites along with the details of how I acquired them.

Deer Antler Ring Holder

I have always loved jewelry and have a thing for finding unique ways to display all of it. A couple of weeks ago, I showed a glimpse into our new bedroom with some simple storage ideas for jewelry including a real deer antler.
I picked this antler up from an antique mall for $10 and decorated with it from time to time. Then when I saw this idea (affiliate link*) from Urban Outfitters, I knew that it was exactly what I wanted to do with it.

Organizing Winter Gear without a Closet or Mudroom

Even though this winter has been a mild one for us, there have still been plenty of cold days requiring getting all bundled up before heading out. Unfortunately, without having a coat closet on the first floor, we are limited for storage of all of our gear. Today, I am sharing some solutions that have worked to help keep it all organized.
Our home, thankfully, has decent sized closets upstairs, but not even one downstairs! We do have a small "mudroom", that leads to the basement, off the back of the house, but we never use that entrance. The space is in pretty rough shape and it's very tight, so it's not practical for our daily use.

Vintage Eclectic Jewelry Display

If you love jewelry as much as I, today's post is for you! Especially if you love organizing it in creative and unique ways. Which is basically what I am all about around our home…
I have always loved jewelry and have grown quite a stash over the years. In high school I had four ear piercings on each ear, wore ten to twelve silver rings every day and doubled up on some fingers. I got my belly button pierced the day of my high school graduation party (much to my mother's chagrin) and always wore layers of necklaces and bracelets. Later, I got into vintage style and often wore costume jewelry and brooches. I would scour flea markets for really unique ones to add to my collection. I still love those pieces.

The Perfect Casual Seating Solution for Small Space Decorating

I have received product from Jonathan Louis in exchange for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own.

Small spaces can be some of the hardest to decorate. My living room has driven me all levels of crazy ever since we moved into this home in 2010 because of its awkward layout and small size. I am constantly rearranging pieces and swapping things in and out trying to find the solution to the design dilemma it poses.
Providing extra seating has been the trickiest problem for me. I can get a couch in here, but beyond that, I haven't known what to do. This has been the situation for several months, and today I am excited to share the perfect solution I found!

Creating a Personal & Cozy Home for Fall

Fall is in all its glory here in Western New York right now. My favorite time of year! The leaves are reaching their peak colors and just enough of them are falling off for the kids to jump and play. I shared my fall home tour last month, but today, I wanted to share with you how I strive to make this season personal and cozy for my family. I am joining in with some of my best blogging friends for Seasons of Home: Fall Edition. Be sure to visit them at the end of this post to see what fall inspiration they have to share!
Even just as a hint of this season is in the air, my whole spirit is lifted in a way I can't describe in words. I become alive all over again…my senses are awakened and my focus shifts to what matters most…enjoying every minute of this fleeting time.

Rustic Bohemian Light Fixtures {under $300}

This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a small commission from any sales made through them, but the cost to you does not change. Full Disclosure.

I have been trying to decide on a new light fixture for our living room for awhile now. The thing is…I am having a hard time nailing down exactly what style and finish I want. Eclectic? Rustic? Midcentury? Moroccan? Geometric? Wood? Beaded? Copper? Brass? Iron? There are so many options it almost feels impossible to decide some days. Then there is the factor of cost. Really beautiful and unique fixtures can be upwards of $2,000. Yikes! #aintnevergonnahappen.
I decided to do some looking online to start narrowing down styles that appeal to me to get the ball rolling. I have no idea yet what direction I will go in, but today I am sharing with you ten chandeliers and pendant lights that I think would fit perfectly with a rustic bohemian interior style. Each is under $300 (not including any additional fees like shipping or tax). I hope you enjoy these! Let me know your favorite at the end!

Casual Midcentury Bohemian {Living Room Design Inspiration}

This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a small commission from any sales made through them, but the cost to you does not change. Full Disclosure.

It's always fun to dream about how you could decorate a space. Especially if you could start from scratch and money was no object, right? Today, I am doing just that with this "casual midcentury bohemian" mood board for a living room space. My living room is quite a bit different, but I love styling furniture and decor in a variety of ways. Hope you enjoy this curated collection!

I am increasingly drawn to midcentury style furnishings and decor. They are finding their way into my home little by little and are now the items I am seeking out when going to thrift stores and flea markets. I have allowed my inner "bohemian" style to infuse itself into every facet of our home for the past year, and I love the two styles pulled together into one cohesive, relaxed look.

25+ Ways to Decorate with Affordable Vintage Finds

I love decorating with vintage finds, mostly because they have charm and character but also because I am super thrifty. I love to find a bargain. Always have and likely always will. I scour thrift stores, flea markets, antique malls, garage sales and even the side of the road to find unique and affordable (or free!) pieces. Today, I am sharing a round-up of ways that I have decorated with and repurposed some of these vintage finds in my own home.
The majority of these images have appeared in previous blog posts, so be sure to click on the links beneath each for more details!

How to Create a Rustic Bohemian Living Room {Source List & Inspiration}

Last April, I shared our living room redo with a new leather sofa. Overall the room has a rustic, vintage style with bohemian touches. Since I get a lot of questions about sources, I put together a list with several elements of the room, along with close alternatives for items that were vintage finds or not available online. I hope you enjoy this curated collection inspired by my own living room!
Note: Items are not shown to scale.
I am an avid thrift store, flea market and garage sale shopper, so many of the items that I decorate with are one of a kind or impossible to find online. This source list offers both items that I actually own, as well as close alternatives that have similar appeal.

Creative Bookshelf Styling

You might recall last week, when I talked about my obsession with shelf styling? I cannot get enough inspiration for it. I am constantly swooning over images I find on Pinterest and blogs, especially being fond of everything Emily Henderson and Joanna Gains do. I love the mixture of eclectic, flea market and one of a kind finds mixed in with inspiring reads.
I have a round up today will several examples of shelf styling ideas from my own blogging friends as well as some from my very own home. I hope you enjoy these!

Choosing the Perfect Leather Sofa {and a Date Night at Raymour & Flanigan}

I have received product from Raymour & Flanigan in exchange for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own as I truly love their furniture. Read my Full Disclosure Policy.

I have been working on getting our home decorating "finished" forever it seems, even though we have only lived here just going on five years. I know it is one of those things that will never really be done, as styles evolve and life changes, but it's a nice feeling when you can see progress towards making your house a home. We are on our way there with the help of several new pieces of furniture from Raymour and Flanigan and some plans for putting a few more personal touches in our main living areas.

Styling a Rustic Shelf {with kids in mind}

Hey everybody! Life has been busy with the little ones and my grandfather, whom I love and adore, is not doing well. I have been trying to visit as often as possible, and even though he is 96, saying goodbye is never easy. Prayers are welcomed that the rest of his days are as pain free as possible and filled with peace.

Today, I am sharing a guest post that I did last month for Jennifer Rizzo with some tips for styling shelves while keeping young children in mind. As you may know, I have two preschool/toddler age children, fifteen months apart, so my decorating has changed a lot in the past few years. I still love to decorate, but have found the need to make compromises to keep my home well styled, yet safe and fun for my children. I actually enjoy the challenge of combing both elements (most of the time – finding places for all of those toys in a tight space is a challenge all its own).

Styling an Ottoman Tray

Last week, I shared a couple of trays that were mailed to me for the Swap It Like It's Hot challenge. I chose to keep one as is and use it for styling on our ottoman from time to time. With young children, it's not all that practical, but it is still fun to do here and there…like oh say when the kids are napping? I shared a couple of pics of how I had styled it in last week's post and thought I would share a few more here.
