Eclectic Bohemian Bedroom Reveal

I have partnered with Raymour & Flanigan for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own. Full disclosure.

My bedroom makeover is finally complete! I am excited to share a lot of photos and details about our space with you today and hope you enjoy the tour. It is on the small side since we switched from the master, but I am really happy with how it came out. It truly is like a dream waking up every day in this "new to us" room.
Last month, I talked about making the switch from the master to the smaller room so that Hazel and Owen could have a larger space. They have been sharing this small room since Owen was about a year old. It was getting really cramped with cribs, a dresser, stuffed animals, toys, etc. I had been wanting to switch our rooms for a long time, but it took awhile to get ourselves motivated to do it since a lot of decluttering had to happen first to make the transition easier.

The Bedroom Switch

I mentioned last week that my husband and I just recently swapped our large master bedroom for the kids' small shared room. We live in a 1300 square foot, two bedroom and this has been a project I had been wanting to tackle for well over a year. Don't you love when you finally knock something big off of your "list to do"? Today, I am giving a little sneak peek of how I quickly pulled it together in the interim, before it gets a full on makeover.
With so much "stuff" upstairs, I stalled on this project for such a long time. What finally got me motivated was decluttering. We literally donated two to three minivans full!

Simplifying my decor has breathed new life into our home. I highly encourage it, if you feel stuck with pulling your home together. I donated a painful amount of belongings, but even months later, I don't miss ANY of it. In fact, I am relieved it is gone. It can't weigh me down anymore.

Inspire Me DIY Instagram Challenge {and a stairway wall update}

Today, I am participating in an Instagram challenge, hosted by Kennesha of Restoration House Interiors, called Inspire Me DIY. The point being to choose a project that has long been on our list of "to dos" or "to trys" and get it done, while inspiring others to do the same. We shared our 'befores' and progress photos throughout the week on Instagram and are sharing our 'after' reveals today!
I know I could have chosen one of the more fun things on my list of to dos, like a cool DIY craft, but I decided to do something (or at least begin to finish something) that I have been putting off for awhile. A home improvement project.

Choosing the Perfect Leather Sofa {and a Date Night at Raymour & Flanigan}

I have received product from Raymour & Flanigan in exchange for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own as I truly love their furniture. Read my Full Disclosure Policy.

I have been working on getting our home decorating "finished" forever it seems, even though we have only lived here just going on five years. I know it is one of those things that will never really be done, as styles evolve and life changes, but it's a nice feeling when you can see progress towards making your house a home. We are on our way there with the help of several new pieces of furniture from Raymour and Flanigan and some plans for putting a few more personal touches in our main living areas.

Home Improvements Made Easy {with Build.com}

I received product from Build.com in exchange for this review. All expressed opinions are 100% my own. Full Disclosure Policy.

If you are a long time follower of mine, you probably know that my husband and I are renovating our 1930's home that we bought back in 2010. If you are new here, you can read more about that on my home tour page. One of the rooms in our home, that needs the most upgrading is our kitchen. We have been pretty slow at getting things remodeled to our personal style, but recently I discovered Build.com which has helped us along in the process! I shared a sneak peek of our latest addition in my Holiday Home Tour last week.
When I went the site for the first time, I couldn't believe the wide array of products that they offer. No matter your style or what you are looking for to remodel your home, it is more than likely they will have it.

Vintage Eclectic Gallery Wall

Do you love gallery walls as much as I do? I can't get enough of them, and find myself creating them all over my house. A few months ago, I shared one that I created in my art studio, over on Jennifer Rizzo's blog. Today, I am sharing it with all of you…my lovely readers! You know I love you, right?

I hope you enjoy this little peek into my art studio (let me just preface this by saying the rest of it is nowhere near done, ha! Someday…right?) And if you read this post, I mentioned that I will eventually be turning this room into my children's shared bedroom, at which time I will have to say goodbye to this gallery wall {insert my sad face here}. But, those are the things you gotta do sometimes when you live in a small house. And I will get to enjoy it until then…
There are so many great posts out there about planning out your gallery wall, how to arrange it just so, and step by step tutorials for putting it together. I think those are awesome.

Vintage Eclectic Fall Dining Room Reveal {and some “real life” thrown in}

Today, I am sharing my dining room reveal with hints of early fall decor. I have never shared this room fully before, even though I have shared my mantel often. There are many reasons for this, but basically it's because it is a work in progress and not yet where I want it to be. Not even close.

It is a little preemptive to call this a "reveal" post, since there is still so much work to do, but I decided to take my own tagline "advice"and find beauty in the imperfections of it. I am sharing some of those imperfections throughout this post, so you can get a glimpse of real life around here.

Sometimes, I know it can feel like bloggers always have everything so "nice and neat and finished." I want to assure you…it is not the case around here. We are always a work in progress, no matter how pretty the pictures.

DIY Outdoor Storage Organization {Without a Garage or Shed}

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Rubbermaid, but all my opinions are my own. #PMedia #FallFixUp http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

One of the most difficult quirks about some older homes, is that they lack in adequate storage. Our home, is no exception, and one area where we especially struggle is outdoors. We have no garage or storage shed. We have a large covered patio at the back of the house and a smaller porch area off of the mudroom. And that's pretty much it.

Is there any hope for those of us in this situation to get our outdoor space organized?
Since we are constantly working on our home, the small porch area has sadly become a space for anything and everything. I have long wanted to create a designated trash and bottle & can storage spot, and finally decided enough was enough. With fall on the way, now was the time to do it! Cold weather will be here before we know it, so I had to take advantage of a warm summer weekend. Don't you love when you finally get the motivation to do something you have put off for years?

First, I suppose, I have to show you the porch before. But I must warn you: It. Is. Scary.

Are you ready for the truth behind this blogger's house?

5 Minute No Sew Drop Cloth Curtains

Canvas drop cloth curtains have been increasing in popularity for a few years now and there is good reason, they are durable, washable, inexpensive and so easy to transform into beautiful drapes that look like linen without the cost. Here is how I made mine in about five minutes and without sewing…
I love the texture (and price) of the Blue Hawk drop cloths available at Lowe's, which is what I used in the photographs shown here. I have bought several from there and now have curtains made from them in both my living room and playroom.

10 Incredible Home Decor Before & Afters

I have a fantastic round-up for you today of ten incredible make-over projects from some very talented bloggers. There is nothing better than a great "before and after" when it comes to interior decorating is there? I can't get enough of them. That is probably why I spend hours watching too much HGTV. (BTW have you guys seen Fixer Upper? I am in love with that show!) Anyhoo…

Hazel’s Vintage Nursery {a look back}

I am excited to share with you the second in my {a look back} series, where I am sharing snippets from life when I was away from blogging. One thing that I never got around to sharing during that time, was Hazel's nursery, so I am going to now!
I had so many hopes and dreams for this room before she was born. Lots of plans were made and vintage items collected just for this special space that I wanted to create for my first child. I knew I wanted it to be cream and white with neutral, vintage touches throughout.

My husband has been hard at work transforming our kitchen. If you missed my first Before Post, go check that out to see what we started with. Here is the progress so far…

Spring 2014 Informal Entryway

When I used to dream of owning my own home, the one thing that I really wanted was a formal entryway.

You know…the kind where you walk through a giant old door (or even better a pair of doors) and see a beautiful staircase off to one side.

With lots of room to put furniture, and a pretty chair or old bench to put shoes on, and of course, decorative items.

Vintage Sugar Bag Pillow

I always have a long list of projects to work on for my home. (Don't we all?) One that I have sadly had on my list for several years, is to turn some old sugar bags into pillows. Well, this week I finally made one of them! I thought I would pop in here to share it with you.

Vintage Book Collection {and a decorating fail}

Do you ever have an idea that you think is going to be really great only to get it completed (or almost) and realize: not gonna work.

Well, that happened to me last week, but I thought I would share it with you anyways just for fun.

It all started with my collection of vintage books. I have a small board on Pinterest called "library" with inspiring displays of books. I enjoy when they are randomly and haphazardly arranged.

Kitchen Transformation in Progress!

Can I just tell you how excited I am? My husband and I have been living in our current home for about four and half years. We have done some upgrades to several rooms (paint, crown molding, change of light fixtures, etc.), but one room we haven't done any upgrades to (other than new appliances) is our kitchen.

The heart of our home and we have neglected it. But not anymore…

My husband is off on vacation this week, and being the amazing man that he is, instead of resting up and enjoying his free time, he is redoing my kitchen. The progress so far is astounding me. I know that I am going to fall in love with this kitchen when it is all done, and I get to put my finishing (decorating) touches on it.

Here is a shot of our kitchen when we first moved in:
