Owen Henry Wingerden arrived on September 26th, 2012 at 10:32 am.
A whopping 8 lbs. 0.3 oz. and 19 1/2″ long! I never thought I would have a baby that big 🙂
Labor was fast…only 4 1/2 hours total after my water broke around 6am. I was getting really worried he was going to end up being born in the car! Thankfully we made it just in time as I was fully dilated.
It was pretty surreal to go through a “normal” time afterwards where I could hold my baby and have him stay with me in the room.
And then the best part…going home with him two days later.

Here are some photos from the hospital when Hazel came to meet her brother for the first time…

Life is really good these days…no post partum this time! I took the initiative to start treatment early, but also have been very blessed with a completely different experience this time. To see how motherhood really can be…and that it can be wonderful to bring home a newborn.
I am completely in love with my little man!
Till next time…

He really looks like his daddy! I didn't think I could love anyone as much as I love my daughters but I know differently now, I love my grandchildren just as deeply as I do you and your sister. I'm so proud of you, as a mom and a daughter, you are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI love you,
Mom
Congratulations. Glad this time was easier for you. Your photos are wonderful and your children are adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos and adore that face!!! Especially happy to hear that you are feeling so positive about the experience this time around 🙂 I know that Hazel will be a wonderful BIG SIS to Owen. You are truly blessed!
ReplyDeleteOh angel…I'm so very glad your little man arrived at a much later time that precious Hazel! Each child is so different…the birth AND the child's personality ~ each one is such a treasure to get to know and learn.
ReplyDeleteI, too, had children close in age and let me tell you this Alice…they are now 30, 28 and 26 and LOVE each other so much! Plus the 21 and 15 year old are so close as well. All the boys love one another and look out for each other. This has been the most wonderful gift to me and their dad, that they love one another.
Sending you big ol' hugs sweet girl,
Dawn

ReplyDeleteVery sincerely joyous it was a different go around this time. One of my favorite things I read was…..you prepared yourself ahead of time. You learned from your experience, which is such a gift to give yourself and others. Beautiful children with a beautiful mother…. AND….thank you for publicly thanking YoUr mother for her help. As a mother yourself, you know how she feels about you! 🙂

Oh Alice, I can't tell you how happy I am for you. You have been on my mind and heart for quite some time. I am so thrilled that your family has been so blessed. It is so wonderful to know that you have had such a joyous experience this time around. Thank you for sharing this with us. It has truly lifted my heart today. You look positively beautiful and Owen is adorable. It's been a while since I've heard that name – my Dad's middle name was Owen! I've always liked that name. I wish you and your lovely family a very happy Thanksgiving! Hugs and many blessings to you. -Terri
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I love the pictures, they are absolutely stunning but not as stunning as your kids. 🙂 So glad the experience went so much differently!
ReplyDeleteSo, So, So very wonderful! I'm so thankful to hear no PPD & a full term delivery! What answers to prayers! This mommy thing turns you into a warrior even in it's best circumstances- so with all that you've been through I would venture to say you are one strong woman! With the Lord's grace holding you up! Congrats & hope you & your family are doing well!

ReplyDelete"It passed almost unnoticed, but last month Benedict XVI significantly upped the ante in an argument he’s made one of his pontificate’s centerpieces. To the horror, one suspects, of some professional interfaith dialoguers and wishful-thinkers more generally, the pope indicated the Church should recognize that some types of religion are in fact “sick and distorted.”
He's just beautiful! I hope you have had a wonderful first Christmas all together as a family x
