Earlier this week, I shared our living room and entryway area reveals on my blog. Here are a few extra shots from some of my vignettes and details from the room.

Spring 2014 Informal Entryway

When I used to dream of owning my own home, the one thing that I really wanted was a formal entryway.

You know…the kind where you walk through a giant old door (or even better a pair of doors) and see a beautiful staircase off to one side.

With lots of room to put furniture, and a pretty chair or old bench to put shoes on, and of course, decorative items.

Vintage Sugar Bag Pillow

I always have a long list of projects to work on for my home. (Don't we all?) One that I have sadly had on my list for several years, is to turn some old sugar bags into pillows. Well, this week I finally made one of them! I thought I would pop in here to share it with you.

Vintage Book Collection {and a decorating fail}

Do you ever have an idea that you think is going to be really great only to get it completed (or almost) and realize: not gonna work.

Well, that happened to me last week, but I thought I would share it with you anyways just for fun.

It all started with my collection of vintage books. I have a small board on Pinterest called "library" with inspiring displays of books. I enjoy when they are randomly and haphazardly arranged.

Welcome Spring! Free Chalkboard Printable

Even though the weather here tells a different story, it is officially spring! In honor of that, I have made a free chalkboard printable for you! I sure hope the sunshine and warm weather are coming soon!

Click on the link below to copy and save the 8×10 version to your computer. Offered for personal use only. Thanks for respecting my time and work 🙂

Hand Painted Tree Bark Lampshade

I have another DIY tutorial for you today! It only takes minimal art skills, a vintage lampshade, seam binding and rope.

My motto for this year has been "to use what I have" (within reason of course) because I have so much stuff that I want to challenge myself to see things in new and creative ways, not only to save money, but also space in our small home. If you have followed me for awhile you may recall me mentioning my "hoarders" basement a time or two.

I had been wanting another lamp in the living room, and contemplated buying one, but I reminded myself of my motto and set to work to be creative.

Sundays at Home No. 3 Link Party and Features

Welcome to Week Three of Sundays at Home!

Since link-ups are still low with this being a new linky party, I have changed some of the guidelines. You can now link up your own products for sale (on your website or Etsy) or other link parties. I would love to find some new ones to link up to myself! And there will be no limit to the amount of links per person. Should the link-ups increase more each week, these guidelines will likely change. Till then let's get this party started!

Whimsical Woodland Deer Birthday Party

I began this post last summer and I am ashamed to say I never finished it! Until now that is. I guess I did better than with her first birthday which had a "country fair" theme. I never finished that post at all. Maybe I still will…hopefully before she moves out of the house 🙂

If you have a party to plan this spring or summer and are looking for whimsical, woodland inspiration, you have come to the right place. The whole party came together with lots of help from extended family and turned out beautifully. I have left what I had originally started writing, only added on to it.
Hope you enjoy (even though it is so late!)

Kitchen Transformation in Progress!

Can I just tell you how excited I am? My husband and I have been living in our current home for about four and half years. We have done some upgrades to several rooms (paint, crown molding, change of light fixtures, etc.), but one room we haven't done any upgrades to (other than new appliances) is our kitchen.

The heart of our home and we have neglected it. But not anymore…

My husband is off on vacation this week, and being the amazing man that he is, instead of resting up and enjoying his free time, he is redoing my kitchen. The progress so far is astounding me. I know that I am going to fall in love with this kitchen when it is all done, and I get to put my finishing (decorating) touches on it.

Here is a shot of our kitchen when we first moved in:

Mason Jar Photo Gallery {DIY}

I have a simple DIY for you today. I love old mason jars and have a huge collection. The ideas for them seem to be unending. One that I have enjoyed doing for the past couple of years is to put photographs in them. I am always looking for unconventional ways to display our family photos, and this is one that works well with my industrial, farmhouse decor. It is a nice modern twist on a vintage item.

Early Spring Centerpiece

Last week, I set up a little centerpiece on our dining room table. I wanted it to hint towards spring but not be screaming "Easter!". It was a simple vignette, using items I have collected through the years. I started with an old burlap feed sack and vintage vanity tray.

Trendy Thrift Store Finds

I have found my style evolving a lot within the last couple of years. Blogging friends who knew me "way back when" (circa 2007-2010), will recall how much I loved everything to be white and "shabby chic". I even had a website for a short time that I called Painted White. Which is what I liked to do with most everything in those days.

Spring is Coming! {Isn’t it?}

I sure hope that spring is on the way. As I look out the window now, I see a lot of snow and am feeling pretty chilly, but surely it must be right around the corner!

I am so honored to be participating this week with some very talented ladies for the Seasons of Home Spring Edition.
