Rustic Bohemian Patio Makeover

Earlier this week, I shared the before and after of my porch and patio that I was able to get all spiffed up for fall. {Click here if you missed it and want to see the "Before" first} Today, I am sharing more details of the patio itself, that I decked out in rustic bohemian flair. I was kinda hating on this space before, but now I love it!

DIY Outdoor Storage Organization {Without a Garage or Shed}

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Rubbermaid, but all my opinions are my own. #PMedia #FallFixUp http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

One of the most difficult quirks about some older homes, is that they lack in adequate storage. Our home, is no exception, and one area where we especially struggle is outdoors. We have no garage or storage shed. We have a large covered patio at the back of the house and a smaller porch area off of the mudroom. And that's pretty much it.

Is there any hope for those of us in this situation to get our outdoor space organized?
Since we are constantly working on our home, the small porch area has sadly become a space for anything and everything. I have long wanted to create a designated trash and bottle & can storage spot, and finally decided enough was enough. With fall on the way, now was the time to do it! Cold weather will be here before we know it, so I had to take advantage of a warm summer weekend. Don't you love when you finally get the motivation to do something you have put off for years?

First, I suppose, I have to show you the porch before. But I must warn you: It. Is. Scary.

Are you ready for the truth behind this blogger's house?

Hazel’s Vintage Nursery {a look back}

I am excited to share with you the second in my {a look back} series, where I am sharing snippets from life when I was away from blogging. One thing that I never got around to sharing during that time, was Hazel's nursery, so I am going to now!
I had so many hopes and dreams for this room before she was born. Lots of plans were made and vintage items collected just for this special space that I wanted to create for my first child. I knew I wanted it to be cream and white with neutral, vintage touches throughout.

Clock Gallery Wall and an ASCP Dresser Makeover

I am so excited about the post I have to share with you today! A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post with Five Tips for Managing Without a Foyer, that included my cousin Sue's entryway. She graciously let me photograph her home which has always been impeccably decorated.

Kitchen Progress {Thus Far}

My husband has been hard at work transforming our kitchen. If you missed my first Before Post, go check that out to see what we started with. Here is the progress so far…

Spring 2014 Informal Entryway

When I used to dream of owning my own home, the one thing that I really wanted was a formal entryway.

You know…the kind where you walk through a giant old door (or even better a pair of doors) and see a beautiful staircase off to one side.

With lots of room to put furniture, and a pretty chair or old bench to put shoes on, and of course, decorative items.

Hand Painted Tree Bark Lampshade

I have another DIY tutorial for you today! It only takes minimal art skills, a vintage lampshade, seam binding and rope.

My motto for this year has been "to use what I have" (within reason of course) because I have so much stuff that I want to challenge myself to see things in new and creative ways, not only to save money, but also space in our small home. If you have followed me for awhile you may recall me mentioning my "hoarders" basement a time or two.

I had been wanting another lamp in the living room, and contemplated buying one, but I reminded myself of my motto and set to work to be creative.

Kitchen Transformation in Progress!

Can I just tell you how excited I am? My husband and I have been living in our current home for about four and half years. We have done some upgrades to several rooms (paint, crown molding, change of light fixtures, etc.), but one room we haven't done any upgrades to (other than new appliances) is our kitchen.

The heart of our home and we have neglected it. But not anymore…

My husband is off on vacation this week, and being the amazing man that he is, instead of resting up and enjoying his free time, he is redoing my kitchen. The progress so far is astounding me. I know that I am going to fall in love with this kitchen when it is all done, and I get to put my finishing (decorating) touches on it.

Here is a shot of our kitchen when we first moved in:
